Titanium braces resemble stainless steel braces but are lighter and just as strong. People with allergies to the components like nickel in steel often choose titanium braces, but they are more expensive than stainless steel metallic braces.
Customized orthodontic treatment systems combine high-technology including 3-D imaging, treatment planning software and a robot to custom bend the wire.
Progressive, clear removable aligners may be used to gradually move the teeth into their final positions. Aligners are not used in complex orthodontic cases, such as when extractions, jaw surgery, or palate expansion are necessary.
Lingual braces are a cosmetic alternative in which custom-made braces are bonded to the back of the teeth making them externally invisible.
Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, customized and removable aligners that gradually helps you to straighten your teeth. There is no need for any brackets or wires, and none of the restrictions are there that are usually there in the cases of metal braces.

A cheek retractor is used to make sure that the teeth remain dry and visible throughout the whole procedure of the placement of dental braces. The teeth should be polished well, conditioned, dried and primed before the braces are placed to help the bonds to form properly.

Dental cement is used to hold the braces in place on the teeth, in the exact position that was determined during the initial examinations. Any excess dental cement can be removed then, and the bonding of the braces to the teeth is strengthened with a high-intense light.

Once the dental braces are in place as desired, the cheek retractor can be removed and dental wires can be put in the place. The complete placement process is relatively fast and takes less than a time of 20 minutes.

Regular appointments to adjust the dental wires are needed to ensure that the repositioning of the teeth continues throughout the whole process. These appointments are necessary because elastic ties that hold the wires are in place and are stretched and become weaker with time and hence the pressure is reduced.

During each adjustment appointment, the movement of teeth and progress so far with the dental braces are always noted, which helps an orthodontist to make ongoing decisions. The elastic ties that hold the braces in place and the wires are then removed, and new ties and wires are then placed.

Most patients will feel some tightness or soreness in their mouth shortly after each orthodontist appointment, which is typically felt for four to six hours after the appointment and it may last for several days. This occurs due to the change in position of the teeth as they react to the pressure created by the wire on the braces. Simple analgesic medications such as paracetamol may be beneficial as pain relief.

There should be a time period of around three weeks between each adjustment appointment to allow time to the teeth to be moved from its place. The frequency of appointments will depend on the movement of the teeth and the type of dental wires that are being used.

In the end of the treatment, the conclusion is the removal of the dental braces when the teeth have been repositioned as desired, and it is the high time to remove the braces. This process is relatively simple and not such painful.

First of all the ties and the wires will be removed, the same process that occurs during each adjustment appointment. Then the bond between the braces and the teeth formed with dental cement should be gently broken by applying pressure on the base of the braces to squeeze them, which releases the adhesive bonds. The dental adhesive remains on the teeth so that the teeth and enamel are not damaged in the braces- removal process. The remaining cement can consequently be removed with a dental hand piece, similar to that used for the treatment of a dental cavity. Many patients informed some inflammation in the gums at the time of removal of dental braces, but this typically subsides within a few days with adequate oral care.

Follow up the appointments with the orthodontist are necessary to have a retainer made, which supports the new position of the teeth and improve the retention period of the whole treatment.
